In the English-speaking world, many books have been published that offer insight into Jewish thought and how it relates to theological views within the Christian church. And conversely: how Christian theological thought relates to Jewish thought. The books cover a wide range of topics. This is due to the broad concept of ‘Israel’. Many people immediately think of the State of Israel when they hear “Israel”. In the books we recommend, however, the focus is not so much on the State of Israel, but on the Israel mentioned in the Bible: the Jewish people. It concerns the God of that people, their history, the scriptures, Jewish thought and Jewish tradition.
The website of the Society for Post-Supersessionist Theology (www.spostst.org)
contains a link to an interesting book list which we wholeheartedly recommend.

In addition to this list, we would also like to draw attention to several books by the American theologian Paul M. van Buren:
- Paul M. van Buren, ‘A Theology of the Jewish-Christian Reality’, Part 1: Discerning the Way, 1980, Part 2: A Christian Theology of the People Israel, 1983, Part 3: Christ in Context, 1988.
- Paul M. van Buren, ‘According to the Scriptures, The Origins of the Gospel and of the Church’s Old Testament’, 1998
